My handmade locket has an aster-textured crescent moon in fine silver on the front. Hidden behind the moon, inside the locket, is a hand-sculpted IO moth, also in fine silver.  I cut a round window in the locket lid to let moonlight enter and reveal part of the moth.  Moths are attracted to light, and I like to think that they seek out the moon as a friend.

This is a one-of-a-kind locket, handmade with a story to tell of our nocturnal moths.  See the video included with the photos.

Materials

The aster moon and the moth inside are made from solid fine silver (99.9% silver). All other parts are sterling silver. The chain is a 2mm rolo in sterling silver (92.5% silver).

Dimensions

The locket is 1" in diameter. The chain, with a handmade clasp, is 20" long.

Care information

Your order will come with a polishing cloth to touch up your jewelry pieces. I oxidize (tarnish) and polish the highlights of most of my jewelry pieces to bring out the texture of the prairie grasses and wildflowers. This oxidation will come off if polished with the cloth. When polishing pieces, polish only the raised surfaces to keep the dark oxidation.

Don't wear jewelry while swimming in a chlorinated pool or hot tub. Be aware that your piece can be damaged by some physical activities.
