This pendant depicts a marginal wood fern (Dryopteris marginalis) impression, featuring the sori on the underside of the leaf. The sori (singular: sorus) are clusters of sporangia, which contain spores for reproduction.  When the spores are released, they start a life cycle of a new plant.  Plants undergo different phases to reach maturity, which scientists call "alternation of generations".   Even us humans "alter" as we grow and change through different life phases to reach completion.

Marginal wood ferns are evergreen plants, meaning that they maintain their green leaves year-round, even during the cold winter months.  May this pendant help you celebrate the changes that the different phases that your life brings to help you grow and stay evergreen.

This marginal wood fern pendant is attached to a dendritic agate stone.

Materials

The pendant is made from recycled fine silver (99.9% pure silver) and sterling silver (92.5% silver). Gemstone is a dendritic agate.

Pendant Measurements: Approximately 2" x 1"

Chain Lengths: 18", 24", or 30" - 2.8mm Drawn Flat Cable Chain in sterling silver.

Care information

Your order will come with a polishing cloth to touch up your jewelry pieces. I oxidize (tarnish) and polish the highlights of most of my jewelry pieces to bring out the texture of the prairie grasses and wildflowers. This oxidation will come off if polished with the cloth. When polishing pieces, polish only the raised surfaces to keep the dark oxidation.

Don't wear jewelry while swimming in a chlorinated pool or hot tub. Be aware that your piece can be damaged by some physical activities.
